I saw a mock-up of my next cover (yay!). Always a tingle. It’s funny, the last one got such mixed responses, from lots of “Love it. Love!” to “Wouldn’t be caught dead holding it in public; bought the e-book.” to “What is the boy wearing??” Who knows if this first version will make it to the shelves. Hope so.

But this isn’t really about book covers. It’s Monday, folks, and I have recently discovered there is no coffee in the house. ( Aaaaaaaaahhhh! just about covers it. Politely.) Soon I will be dragging myself and the aging corgi out to our local for a large latte. Until then, about all I can manage is my playlist for the day. I thought about doing something coffee related but, in the absence of coffee, I don’t have the brain power. Covers. Covers are good. Except when they’re dismal, of course.

I collect cover music. Send me a list of your faves. Good is important; quirky is good. Our intrepid panel will pick a winner, who will get a signed copy of Falling in Love with English Boys with a surprise inside.

With that in mind, here is my Monday playlist of some covers to start the week:

Under Pressure (My Chemical Romance/orig: Queen and David Bowie)

Take on Me (A.C. Newman/orig: A-ha)

Hey Ya (Mat Weddle/orig: Outkast)

The Tide Is High (Blondie/orig: The Paragons)

Heart of Glass (The Puppini Sisters/orig: Blondie)

Lovesong (Adele/orig: The Cure)

Some Kind of Wonderful (Joss Stone/orig: Soul Brothers Six)

Personal Jesus (Johnny Cash/orig: Depeche Mode)

The Heart of the Matter (India.Arie/orig: Don Henley)

Being Green (Van Morrison/orig. Kermit the Frog)

and, for the sheer, “Is this for real?” guilty pleasure of it:

In My Life (Sean Connery/orig: The Beatles)
