I’ll do these periodically. I like hearing what readers have to say, and once in a while, it seems appropriate to send something as a “Thanks for taking the time”. So…
Every Monday, I make a new iTunes playlist that goes on my laptop and iPod. I tend to do this every couple of days anyway, but some extra thought goes into the first one. What’s going on this week? Do I need musical inspiration? Relaxation? Is this the week I actually spend the extra half hour on the elliptical machine and hence require foot-pounding, hip-shaking, pulse-thumping Black Eyed Peas? Is this the week for Billy Bragg’s spot-on political commentary? Bruno Mars’s shameless wearing of his heart on his sleeve? A little bit of Ireland via the Chieftains? Van Morrison? Snow Patrol? Carla Bruni singing in French? Gogol Bordello singing in well, English, but…? Believe me, I could go on for a very, very long time.
This morning, I am completely unable to escape “Always Something There to Remind Me” by Naked Eyes. Which necessitated a Guilty Pleasures Playlist. I’m not going to share it. Yet, anyway. But I would love to hear yours. Send (by January 23rd) a list of ten songs or less that you love despite knowing better. I’ll confer with my musical panel and, in honor of Cat and her music dependence, send a signed copy of Falling in Love with English Boys to the creator of the list that gets the biggest cheesy grins.
